Deltebre: The location chosen by Babyclon® to establish its definitive headquarters.

Deltebre: The location chosen by Babyclon® to establish its definitive headquarters.

Do you know how many of the Babyclon® sculptures are spread around the world? According to the latest data offered by the company itself, at present there are about 1000 sculptures around the world. This is a simple and overwhelming figure that gives us an idea of the magnitude of Babyclon®. But how did Babyclon® achieve it?

Babyclon® that since 2013 has made countless models, but always created with the same work system got to the point where in 2017 has been declared as the leader brand of hyperrealistic silicone baby sculptures in terms of creation and sales.

For this reason, today we want to make a thorough tour of the recent history of Babyclon®, which although it has always maintained the same working system, has never stopped innovating and improving its way of working. There is nothing better to know the evolution of the brand than the different steps it has taken to get to the present time.

In this past year there have been many changes in the Babyclon® brand. The first and the largest change has been the opening of its new center in Deltebre (Catalonia), which is also our general manager Cristina Iglesias’ hometown and closing for good the facilities in the Basque country, where this brand was founded in 2013.

During the past 2017 there have also been changes in the corporate image of the company, such as the renewal of the brand logo, the certificates of authenticity, the catalogue or the web page, among others, in order to continue improving in detail the image of Babyclon®, the presentation of each sculpture and the best customer service that is offered today.

One of the great and first marketing actions of Babyclon® has been the investment done during the past 2017 including negotiations with 20th Fox Century productions to obtain the license and rights for the avatar silicone characters. Babyclon® has recently become the first brand in the world legally authorized for the reproduction of these characters.

Another important negotiation has been with Lluís Llongueras himself, who has collaborated with the brand to create an exclusive line of hairstyles for our new Milan model.

Regarding to manufacturing improvements, Babyclon® has designed and experimented with a new definitive hair system. This makes Babyclon® the first brand in the world to apply for a patent for a work system applied to silicone sculptures.

The great innovation in the world of silicone baby sculptures has been the creation of the first model based on 3D technology. Also, a new robotized baby sculpture with great features has been developed and it is in its last test phase and we expect to launch it and sale sometime this year 2018.

Soon, Babyclon® will present the new commercials and advertizing that will show all the work done during the past year.

Today the machinery is underway and the advance of Babyclon® is practically unstoppable. That's why we wanted to delve into the doors of this workshop that, far from metropolitan areas and industrial zones, and contrary to what would be expected from any large company, Babyclon® is located in one of the most emblematic natural places of the Iberian Peninsula: The Ebre Delta.

The new facilities are breathtaking, surrounded by large windows where the latest work done is shown as well as small samples of the sculptures and film works with which Cristina Iglesias had her beginnings in the world of art.

Once inside these new and improved facilities, we meet our staff members that have been meticulously selected and trained for months by Cristina Iglesias.

In here, reality is confused with fiction. The new workers of the company manipulate the little bodies as if that were the case, but anyone who saw them for the first time could not take their eyes off these works of art.

They are made of prosthetic silicone, a flexible material that allows tightening its cheeks, exposing the tongue or interlacing the fingers of its hands.

The creation of each sculpture brings back many hours of documentation on features of different ethnicities, expressions, body postures, as well as a study of customer demands.

In one of the rooms, Eugeni Iglesias injects the silicone in one of the last molds of the brand. Eugeni is one of the most veteran workers in the company, since he started his career in Babyclon® in the Bilbao facilities in 2014.

Eugeni, even though is dedicated solely to the injection of silicone in molds, knows perfectly well how the chain of creation works from the very start to the end. "I can practically solve any problem that could come up with the silicone during the creation process. I know it quite well. " says Eugeni.

In the department of mold repairing lines we find Andreu Bertomeu, a very versatile young artist, who dominates several artistic disciplines, from design and drawing to sculpture, carving or painting. "I got to know Cristina Iglesias’ work in an exhibition in Deltebre in 2012 where she was showing her works and sculptures for special cinema effects. From that moment I was aware of the work of this creative and forever friend of mine ".

The incorporation of Andreu to the Babyclon® team was not accidental. During several months our general manager has trained this artist, helping him to know deeply the material that is now part of his every day. "It's a great opportunity for me to learn from this team, the materials and the techniques we use. In addition, sharing, seeing and learning from Cristina Iglesias, a well-know professional with great talent, is a privilege. "says Andreu.

From the department of mold repairing lines we move on to the painting department, where we meet Paula Obón who gives skin tone to the sculptures. Paula learned to paint thanks to Cristina Iglesias in 2016. Since then, she has occasionally been working as a regular collaborator in the painting department of Babyclon®. With the opening of the new facilities in Catalonia, Paula has become part of the company's staff. "She is a very applied worker and takes quality very seriously in her work." says Cristina.

Behind the glass of the office we find Paula Bonet, the secretary of the brand and responsible for customer service. She has been one of the latest incorporations to the team. Roger Iglesias, executive secretary of the ClonFactory company, looks after business management matters that go beyond the Babyclon® brand. "My sister has a trail of artistic projects that have nothing to do with the Babyclon® brand, and each one is more and more incredible. To manage a company is not something as simple as it may seem." explains Roger while preparing customs documents to send a work of art to Panama.

"Roger's work is incredible. He takes care of almost everything, from raw material orders, to fiscal and labor management. He is also in charge of the management and contact with external departments for image licenses, banks, commission agents, labor risks, the corporate image team, legal issues, payments, collections. He is my second hand. I don’t know how he can keep all of that in his head. I simply couldn’t do it!" states Cristina.

Meanwhile, Paula responds to the hundreds of e-mails that we get monthly.

"I like the contact with the customers and the variety of languages I can practice every day. I feel fulfilled being a part of this great chain, from the first contact with the customer until the delivery of his/her piece of art." explains Paula.

At the workshop's central table, Cristina Iglesias combs a sculpture to take photographs afterwards for the customer to supervise. The hair is rooted one by one in the silicone baby heads. Zonia Mabel, Sonia Rodríguez and Lorena León are responsible for this laborious task. Sonia Rodríguez is a veteran in the hair rooting field. "I love this work, it requires niceness and patience, and I have enough of both," says Sonia, a positive artist with a faultless quality of work.

For Lorena León, working at Babyclon® is her passion. "I met Cristina because I took a course she was teaching in Valencia in 2015, and every time she called me to work I learned something new. On this last occasion, for example, she has taught me a new way of eyelash gluing." says Lorena.

Babyclon® seems like that place where any artist would like to work. "We are all part of a team in which we can make improvements for a higher quality final result. We are very grateful with the team that we all are. We love the good atmosphere it can be breathed in here and the good relationship we have among us." states Eugeni and Paula B.

Paula O and Lorena, who had already worked together before, confess the feeling of satisfaction of working in a sector that they really love.

This passion and love that this team gives can be felt and seen in every silicone sculpture that it is done.

"I believe that in the sector where we work, CLONFACTORY SLU can be placed at the forefront of innovation since it is ready to work hand in hand with robotics and artificial intelligence. These being technologies that will demand physical and pleasant supports for the consumer in the near future." explains Andreu.

Having known this talented team, it will be hard to forget the experience lived within these doors. "I am really happy and proud of this new team, not only for the quality of work they have been able to do, but also for the human quality of each of them. Undoubtedly, the Babyclon team has been a world reference since its beginning, and I have no doubt that this change has turned into a business growth in every way. Having moved Babyclon® to the place of my origins, in these conditions, is like a dream come true ", reveals Cristina Iglesias, the founding artist of this dream factory.
